Ashley Jennings

Ashley was born and raised in Serenity, Ohio, to graduates of Serenity University who fell in love with the town and never felt like leaving. She grew up 'special' she could feel, hear, and see spirits, and she became another piece of evidence about the folklore surrounding the "witch" of Serenity and the curse she wove to punish the settlers who maintained the Puritan ways who killed her.

Ashley has been haunted her entire life. Growing up, she braved the Appalachian Foothills with her friends, ignoring the strict rules regarding the mysterious area. The moment she entered the woods at the age of six, she heard the cries of those who perished in those woods. The spirit of the woods would talk to her and tell her all the haunting truths of the area. They were the spirits of children who were lost in the woods and died over the centuries under different circumstances. She knew then that she needed to tell their stories so they could find peace.

That's when Ashley decided to write their stories in a journal to help them move on. Over the years, she has filled hundreds of journals with the stories of the lost, the murdered, the haunted, and the entities not of this realm. This led her to go to Serenity University and study journalism. This was a dream she shared with her lifelong friend Sebastian. They wanted to start a monthly magazine to tell the stories of the supernatural who lived among us, to tell the folklore of Serenity, to tell of the cryptids that roam the woods, to give a voice to those who never had one due to the criticisms and lack of education about the places who are attached to other realms.

After graduation, Ashley, Sebastian, and two other friends they met at school started "Horror Monthly." A modest local magazine that told the stories of the townsfolk. What they didn't expect was it became national thanks to a cult-like following. For five years, Ashley wrote a column called "Ashley Jennings Haunted Things," where Ashely would investigate and try to debunk the stories surrounding the items. She debunked quite a few items, but she confirmed more items that were haunted or cursed, making her widely popular and trusted among the paranormal community.

Ashley belongs to a group that is affectionately called the Merry Band of Misfits. A group of friends who are different from 'normal' humans, unashamed about their differences, the pasts that shaped them, and the level of crazy they individually embody. Ashley's crazy tends to be willing to sacrifice anything to find the truth to help others to her detriment at times. She's had a few close calls, and it never stops her from pursuing her truth by finding out truths about others. She may seem naive, but she isn't, Ashley just believes strongly that her gift has to be used for good, even if it leaves her haunted.
