Justin hails from a town called Hockingville, Ohio. He was born three minutes before his fraternal twin sister Katherine, or Kat. Both coming from an ancient pagan ancestry, they utilize sacred geometry and alchemy to protect their family, friends, and themselves from the evils of the world and within the magickal community.
They learned of their gifts while playing hide and seek in the woods. Kat was trying to find a place to hide where Justin couldn't find her when she spoke words to hide her. She levitated off the ground to the top of a maple tree that hid her from all view of the leaf-strewn valley below. She watched as Justin kept getting more frustrated, looking for her. Then he said something she understood but was not in English. He was asking for the forest to reveal her. That's when the birch tree shook, knocking her out of the top of the tree, slowly delivering her back to the forest floor. Justin was shocked at what had just happened, and Kat was pale as a ghost. They ran out of the forest, telling the story of what happened to their parents, who, in turn, informed them of their gifts. For twenty years, Justin and Kat have been developing their gifts to help others, even though people look at them as evil, they would actually be considered white magick practitioners for they do not harm anyone else.
Only two of the four members of the Merry Band of Misfits were not born within the boundaries of Serenity. They bring a new vision of Serenity. They feel the difference between the energy of Serenity and the town they grew up in.
To make things more interesting, they seem to have an unspoken telepathic ability to speak to one another. Not only that, but they also can feel the other's emotions, physical pains, and psychic disturbances. It's a bit creepy to watch them in action, but also quite fascinating. Their type of crazy is to hide in the woods at dusk dressed either in all black or all white to terrorize campers just for the fun of it. That can't end well, can it?
