Penelope Moon Stephenson

Penelope, referred to by her friends as Penny Moon, or PMS, is also a born and raised member of Serenity, Ohio. Her story is very different from the other members of the Band of Misfits, who came up with the name of the group. It's Penny Moon and her Merry Band of Misfits. She is a supernatural being. She comes from two different realms, the human realm and the realm of Anseir, or the sidhe realm.

Penny's parents are the ones who discovered a way to open portals to other realms at a time when they were in a fight not only against a fascist government but also against time to save as many people of Earth as possible before the realm died. Thanks to Penny's parents, a group of individuals made up of psychics and physicists worked together in pairs to locate and open portals to many different realms using magick and science.

When Penny turned twelve, she had an incident where she accidentally set the backyard on fire with a flick of her fingers while angry about a confrontation with her half-brother from Anseir, Regin. Shocked by her ability, she tried to put the flames out with the garden hose, which did not affect the flames. Her mother smelled the smoke, ran outside, and extinguished the flames in green water that flew from her fingers. Dumbfounded, Ashley asked what was happening, and her mother's response was to tell her she had hit puberty and her powers were developing.

Penny, in shock, asked questions about what was happening, and that's when her mother informed her and her brother that they were different from other humans because they were half sidhe. This began a long agonizing process of Penny and her younger brother Andre learning the truth about their powers, the realm of Anseir, and just who their mother was to that realm. This was the beginning of the war of wills between mother and daughter. She resented her mother for lying to her for the entirety of her life, staying silent even when she knew Penny would be coming into her sidhe powers. Penny was even more shocked when she found out her black cat, Lunatic, whom she'd had since he was a kitten, was not only her familiar but her protector as well. Seems Lunatic is from the realm of Anseir, brought through the portal for Penny alone. The cool thing about Lunatic is that he can transform into a giant black cat with long saber teeth and claws that can dice a human into a chum with one swipe. When Lunatic is in the Earth realm, he remains a small black cat who, with the magic of Anseir, can sink into the thigh of Penny as a panther tattoo.

Penny's crazy is that she is a brash, mouthy, distrusting woman who thinks she's always right even when she is wrong. She loves to pick fights with the other sidhe to see what they have, knowing not one of them will touch her because of who she is. She's hated in Anseir because she isn't pure sidhe, she's a half-breed human/sidhe hybrid.

These days, she is the owner of a small bookstore named Serenity Reads, which is a dream come true for her. However, her mother, who happens to be the Queen of the realm of Anseir, is determined to marry Penny off to another sidhe before she is coronated as Princess of all the realm of Anseir. Penny is against this idea, so what could possibly go wrong? Try everything.
